The Ladies of the Hennig Church of God held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 11, in the church fellowship hall. President Carole Spencer presided and Donna Scott led in prayer.
Dyan Hefner presented the devotion, “Wind Power,” with scripture reference Ephesians 4: 30-32. Pin wheels must have a wind source to spin around. Christians cannot spin without God and sometimes we get something caught in the blade. Our source is the Holy Spirit. The disciples turned the world upside down with the help of the Holy Spirit. We have power blockers such as bitterness that robs us of joy, unforgiveness, selfish desires, and unconfessed sin. In Romans 12:1-2 we are not to be conformed to the world. As Christians we must have the Holy Spirit to guide us and be refreshed by the Holy Spirit breeze. We need to be receptive and not let our blades be blocked. We need to spin around doing the things Christ would have us to do.
Kim Brookman gave the missionary report about Covid-19, “Reflections from Latin America.” Countries in Latin America were completely locked down and could earn no income at all. The Church of God in Latin America was affected by the virus, they suspended church services and no tithes were collected. However, in Cost Rica they were allowed to have church services with all the Covid-19 restrictions in place. The police monitored them and could shut them down if they violated any restrictions. Many people watched services online and became less involved. Pastor Ramone Mendoza stated, “God is leading back to church and the church will never be the same.” In Latin America churches singing and dancing are a large part of the service. Music ministry is very important. Because of the restrictions there is more teaching and preaching. The pandemic did not surprise God. All that matters is to get Jesus into the church by whatever method.
Carole Spencer gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.
Carole thanked members for making treats, helping out with the blood drive, and helping with the yard sale. The yard sale was very successful thanks to our many donations and customers. The group will serve the Maxwelton Ruritans on May 27.
The next meeting will be June 8. Kim Brookman dismissed in prayer.
Attending were: Alice Coff, Barb Seldomridge. Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Carol Spencer, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Joan Vance, Kim Brookman, Marty Burns, Patty Owens, and Pauline Perkins.
