February is America Heart Month. As part of our efforts to support heart healthy lifestyle and increase awareness, The Heart Center Team will host the Feb. 6 Business After Hours of the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce. The Heart Center is located on the first left hand drive after turning onto Davis Stuart Road from Rt. 219 South. The event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Heart Center was founded in 2001 by Thomas von Dohlen, M.D. to provide quality care and a full range of services to Southern West Virginia and surrounding Virginia communities. The Heart Center strives to deliver state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnosis, treatment and patient advocacy in a caring, patient-oriented environment. We also enable each patient and their family to understand cardiovascular disease as it pertains to them and their lifestyle and to deliver the highest possible quality diagnostic services and patient care followed by appropriate discussion with each patient. The Heart Center is renowned for their timely patient education which is tailored to help prevent future disease and help in assessing the rationale for ongoing therapy of existing problems. We offer the following diagnostic procedures Electrocardiogram: EKG; Echocardiography; Nuclear Imaging; Treadmill Exercise Testing; Dobutamine Stress; Echocardiogram; Holter Monitoring; Carotid Duplex Studies and other Laboratory Services. The Heart Center participates with all major insurances.
Dr. von Dohlen was born in Charleston, WV, and attended the University of Georgia on a tennis scholarship. He attended medical school at West Virginia University, residency in internal medicine at CAMC, and cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. He was Board Certified in Cardiology in 1987 and is Board Certified in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. von Dohlen admits and cares for patients at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
