Hazel Rocelia Beverly Allen

White Sulphur Springs-Hazel Rocelia Beverly Allen, 85, departed this life on Monday, Mar. 21, 2016.

Born in Eagle Rock, VA, on Feb. 2, 1931, she was a daughter of the late James and Hazel White Robinson.

She graduated from Eagle Rock High School at Eagle Rock, VA. She later worked as a maid at The Greenbrier for 17 years and then she retired. She was an active member on the board of the St. James United Methodist Church for many years. After the death of her husband, Clarence Allen, she resided in her home in White Sulphur Springs for the last 15 years with her daughter, Mary Alice Beverly.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Chappy” Allen; daughter, Valerie Damon; sister, Annie May Godfrey (Frank); stepson, Greg Allen; brothers, William and Frank Robinson; nieces, Barbara Kemp and Linda Russell; nephew, Norman Robinson; brothers-in-law, John Cook Flowers and Carl Haynes; sisters-in-law, Wanda Boggs, Mary Ann Cousins, Louis and Joyce Rhodes.

Survivors include: daughter, Mary Alice Beverly; step-daughter, Annette Rodgers; step-sons, Keith Allen (Collette), Charlie Allen (Joy) and Thomas Allen (Sonya); sisters, Catherine Cook of Roanoke, VA, Lucille Beverly (David) of Clifton Forge, VA and Shirley Flower of Washington, DC; brothers, Lloyd Ray Robinson (Kathleen) of Clifton Forge, VA, Raymond and Thomas Robinson of Washington, DC and Charles Emory of New Jersey; brother-in-law, Donald Haynes (Diana) of Maryland; grandchildren, Harold Beverly of Washington, DC, Malcolm Beverly and Tia Mattox (Maceo) of White Sulphur Springs, Natasha Mitchell (Carl) of Delaware, Alicia Beverly of Charlotte, NC, Mary Beverly (Ronnie) of Maryland, Camillia Atkinson of Columbus, OH, Kizzy Damon of Lewisburg and Stevie Damon (Brittany) of Ronceverte; 39 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 7 nieces, and 10 nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 26, at St. James United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs, with Rev. Shari Stilgenbauer, Gregory Scott, Keith Allen and Kathy Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
