Alderson-Harriet Morlene Dancy 95, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, following a long illness. Born on June 19, 1928, at Cornstalk, WV, to the late Henry L. and Lula F. Donaldson.
Mrs. Dancy was a correctional officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Alderson, retiring in 1973 after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church. She volunteered at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center Auxiliary for 17 years. She loved to work in her garden and doing her yard work.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Foster Dancy; son, Earl Snedegar; and her brothers, Ormont and Delbert Donaldson.
Those left behind to cherish her memories include her son, Carl “Sned” Snedegar of Alderson; Judy Snedegar Pendry of Alderson; grandchildren, Jessica Snedegar Pauley (Jason) of Mount Clair, WV, and Nathan Pendry (Dana) of Due West, SC; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23.
