Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) is excited to present a colorful trip through one little boy’s imagination in this year’s Smucker’s PB&J Café production of “Harold and the Purple Crayon” June 30-July 2 and July 6-8 at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $14 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $10 for children/students. Child tickets include a meal. For more information call the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit us at www.gvtheatre.org.
This summer GVT looks forward to welcoming young people back to the theatre to share the tale of Harold and his adventures. A favorite in the world of picture books gets even more exciting when it comes to life on stage! Harold goes to the circus, swims in the sea and gets to be on television – all through the magic of his crayon and the wonders of the theatre!
The PB&J Café production is performed by GVT’s summer intern company as well as two students in GVT’s After-School Program. Education Director Courtney Susman and the cast have embraced the world of Crockett Johnson’s classic picture book to create a show that will entertain children and inspire an interest in live theatre.
“[PB&J is] a good collaboration between the interns, Courtney and the GVTeens,” said intern Vincent Pelligrino, about how the cast has brought this show to life.
Lindsey Feamster, a long-time GVT student and recent graduate of the GVTeen Conservatory, has been a part of many GVT productions, including past PB&J Cafés.
“I always enjoy being a part of the PB&J Café. It’s always a lot of fun and I think it’s a great way to introduce young children to theatre. I know a lot of families in the community that look forward to bringing their kids every summer,” said Feamster, who is portraying Harold’s mother.
