Harold Author Sponaugle, Sr., 85, of Frankford, passed away on Nov. 13, 2025, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
He was born Apr. 9, 1940, in Renick, the son of the late Harry and Beulah Scott Sponaugle.
Harold was a U. S. Navy Veteran and a retired over the road truck driver, logging in millions of miles.
He loved the outdoors, bowling and enjoyed piddlin’ in his garage on many a project.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Decker Sponaugle; brothers, Nile and Willard Sponaugle.
He leaves behind his loving family: daughters, Debbie Yates (Tim) and Cathy Carey (Eddie); son, Harold Sponaugle “JR” (Stephanie); grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Ryan, Tyler, Taylor and Tanner; great-grandchildren, Makena, Karli, Kadi and Asher; brother-in-law Jimmy “Pee Wee” Decker and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Harold will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Steve Barnette officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
Honored to carry Harold to his rest, pallbearers will be: Tim Yates, Luke Dillon, Lake Vaughan, Bob Shetterly, Russell Hughes carrying on behalf of his father – Harold’s good friend, Dale “Jumbo” Hughes, and Jon Sheets carrying on behalf of his father – Harold’s good friend Jon Dale Sheets. Honorable Pallbearers: Dwaine Sheets and Jimmy “PeeWee” Decker.
