Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) will host its 22nd Annual Art Auction on Saturday, Sept. 24. This is GVT’s largest annual fundraiser, and it continues to grow each year due to the generosity and support of local artists. Every donation assists GVT in its mission to produce live professional theatre. Donations include wall art, handcrafted jewelry and much, much more.
Alex Brand is a graduate of Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA, and he’s been working with glass for over 30 years. His work can be found in many books, private collections and museums, and in 2014 he was named Best of Show in Tamarack’s Juried Show. He has donated a large blown glass encalmo vase.
Lewisburg artist Karen Whitt debuted at GVT’s art auction last year, donating three pieces. This year she has returned with three more abstract works, including “Tree Shadow in Gold.” This exquisite 4 foot by 4 foot piece is enamel featuring 23 karat gold leaf.
Jeweler and painter Jorn Mork’s work has been seen in many different galleries including Gibson’s at The Greenbrier and the Cooper Gallery in downtown Lewisburg. Her unique painting, “Sweet Summer Breeze,” is oil pastel on paper.
Also up for auction is a custom necklace designed by Susan Chapman Thomas, a five-course Italian dinner for six, courtesy of GVT board member Judith Huber, as well as exciting travel packages. A script signed by the cast and creative team of the world premiere production of “Cinderellish” is also on the auction block.
A preview party with hors d’oeuvres, beverages and silent auction opens at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 7 p.m. Tickets to the preview party are $12. For tickets or more information, contact GVT’s box office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.
