Ring in the holidays with GVT’s musical adaptation of Dickens’ timeless tale of redemption. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future lead heartless Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey through his childhood innocence to the cold and lonely death that awaits him. After seeing what he has made of his life, Scrooge realizes that compassion and generosity are more powerful that all the money in the world.
“I credit my first ‘A Christmas Carol’ production as the show that got me hooked on theatre. I cherish my past, present and future time with this production,” Courtney Susman, who will portray Mrs. Cratchit, said.
Susman, also GVT’s Education Director, has been working at GVT since 2012, but she began her career as a student in the after-school program. Susman performed in GVT’s first production of “A Christmas Carol” in 2000. Now, 15 years later, she is enjoying the opportunity to perform alongside her students.
“It’s an honor to be right beside the students as they put their classwork to use onstage. It is also fun to join them in an actor to actor relationship and not just teacher to student,” Susman said.
After performing in five productions of “A Christmas Carol,” with so many different students and peers, Susman still believes in the message of this story and enjoys being a part of the cast.
“This is a magical and timeless story of Ebenezer Scrooge who has an unparalleled character transformation full of rich remorse, love and empathy. This story will always be relevant to humankind with its hope and warmth,” Susman said.
