In partnership with The Met: Live in HD series, Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) presents a live transmission of Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, Saturday, Oct. 11, at 12:55 p.m. The broadcast will run approximately 3 hours 15 minutes with one intermission. A complimentary lecture by Dr. James Caplinger from the University of Charleston will start at 12:15 p.m. For tickets, call the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.

The Met: Live in HD returns for the 2014-15 season with Adrian Noble’s chilling production of Verdi’s adaptation of Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth. Noble’s production is the third staging in Met history.

Star soprano Anna Netrebko as the mad and murderous Lady Macbeth alongside Željko Lučić as the ill-fated Macbeth. The pair received rave reviews during their Met run, includ

ing this from NY Classical Review.

“This was Anna Netrebko’s first Lady Macbeth at the Met, and she grabbed the role by the throat and did not let go.” Željko Lučić gave a “dramatically compelling and vocally nuanced performance… His final, rage-fueled call to battle was harrowing. Luisi led a thrilling performance from the pit, weaving spooky atmospheres and wringing every drop of drama from the score.”
