Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s 2026 Season Announcement Celebration was a joyful, community-centered evening celebrating the theatre’s next chapter. The Nov. 9 event featured live music by John Maddy, a video recap of the 2025 season, introductions of staff and board members, and the announcement of the 2026 mainstage lineup: Ripcord, The Greenbrier Ghost, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Mousetrap, and Miracle on 34th Street: A Live Musical Radio Play. Guests also learned about expanded community programs such as Guys and Dolls Sr., the youth production of Matilda Jr., and the Al Jeter Concert Series, which will continue to offer audiences diverse musical experiences – with new subscription perks for season ticket holders.
The evening included live music throughout the presentation by John Maddy, along with a heartfelt reflection from Producing Artistic Director Courtney Susman-Frye on her journey from GVT student to artistic leader. A highlight of the event was the recognition of longtime Artistic Director Cathey Sawyer, who was honored with the title Artistic Director Emeritus and present-ed with a vintage masquerade brooch mounted on wood from GVT’s original barn. The celebration concluded with a festive surprise appearance by Santa and musical performances by Lillie King, followed by the launch of Early Bird Subscriptions for the 2026 season, giving patrons first access to seats and new exclusive benefits.
“This season is about belonging – about creating a place where artists, audiences, and community members can come together to grow, laugh, and dream,” said Producing Artistic Director Courtney Susman-Frye. “Greenbrier Valley Theatre has always been a creative home for me, and I hope everyone who joined us for the reveal felt that same sense of connection and possibility.”
