Performances February 4 through February 7
Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) will present Guys and Dolls Sr., a joyful, concert-style production performed by community actors age 55 and better, Feb. 4-7.
Set on the bustling streets of New York City, this beloved musical comedy comes to life with iconic songs including “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” This 60-minute adaptation celebrates the power of storytelling, lifelong learning, and the pure joy of making theatre together.
Guys and Dolls Sr. showcases the talents of older adult performers in a vibrant, accessible format that highlights music, character, and community. With its charm, wit, and timeless score, the production reflects Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s ongoing commitment to inclusive programming and creative opportunities for artists of all ages.
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. It received nearly unanimous positive reviews from critics and won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Oliviers.
Guys and Dolls Sr. features a book by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and is based on The Idyll of Sarah Brown and characters by Damon Runyon.
Performances run Feb. 4 through Feb. 7.
