Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company of Maxwelton brought home some awards after attending the Cabin Fever Craft Beer Fest in Morgantown last month. With an attendance exceeding 1,500 craft beer lovers, folks from all over got to sample craft beers and ciders all brewed in the state of West Virginia.
GVBC submitted their flagship brews in several categories at the festival, but bringing home the blue ribbon in the European Beers category was Zona’s Revenge Witbier and category runner-up in the Pale Ales and IP As was Devil Anse.
Zona’s Revenge Witbier, named for Zona Heaster Shue aka The Greenbrier Ghost, is a wonderfully light, refreshing Belgian-style wheat ale. Slightly cloudy in appearance, Zona offers a zesty orange, melon, fruity finish with hints of herbs and spices. It’s an easy going beer and not hoppy at all. Craft beer fans will taste hints of orange peel and coriander. It pairs well with fruit salads to complement the orange in the beer.
Devil Anse IP A is a medium bodied American style India Pale Ale, featuring a blend of Australian and Pacific Northwest hops; lending a balanced bitterness of citrus and tropical fruit characteristics. Pairing well with Thai or Mexican food spices, this IPA is a one of GVBC’s hottest sellers.
Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company is located at 862 Industrial Park Rd in Maxwelton, near the airport. They offer tours, host events and have a tap room where you can come enjoy your favorite craft beer straight from the source.
