Born Aug. 30, 1925, at White Sulphur Springs, he was a son of the late Walter and Helen Marie Lawhorn Burns.

Grover attended Whatcoat Methodist Church, was retired from The Greenbrier Hotel and was a proud WWII Marine Corp Veteran and member of the VFW.

He was a kind and loving man with a huge heart who believed in helping anyone in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hunt; daughter-in-law, Wanda Sue Burns; and a brother, Julian W. Burns.

He is survived by daughters, Hallie Lawhorne (Danny) of Clifton Forge, VA, Audrey VanBuren (Richie), Darlene Teal (Robert), Helen Burns, Lisa Taylor (Tony) and Lynn Lingerman, all of White Sulphur Springs; two sons, Grover Patrick Burns (Judy) of Mapledale and Julian Wyatt Burns of White Sulphur Springs; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hunt of Ronceverte; sister, Eleanor Boogar (William) of Taveras, FL; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at Whatcoat Cemetery at White Sulphur Springs, where Pastor Buck Caldwell officiated. There was no public visitation.

In lieu of any flowers just show kindness toward others and help a family in need during the holiday season.
