Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) is excited for the upcoming spring education classes: GVTots I (age 5-6) and II (age 7-8), GVTweens (age 9-11), GVTeens (age 12-18) and the year-long GVTeen Conservatory (age 13-18). Enrollment for spring classes is open now until Jan. 9 by contacting Education Director Courtney Susman.

This semester students will be focusing on Spring Showcases. Every student in the after-school program will be cast. Rehearsals for the showcases will take place during class every week. There will be two additional technical rehearsals outside of class.

Spring Showcases are as follows:

• GVTots I & II: The Day the Crayons Quit Apr. 14 at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

• GVTweens: The Emperor’s New Clothes Apr. 21 at 6 and 8 p.m.

• GVTeens: Beauty and the Beast May 19 at 6 and 8 p.m.

• GVTeen Conservatory: Almost, Maine & All in the Timing May 12 and 13 at 7 p.m.

“It’s an amazing process watching students go from never speaking publicly to carrying roles in a play. Watching them develop confidence is magical,” Susman said. “The students rise to the occasion of taking on the responsibility that comes with being in a play.”

After-school classes begin Monday, Jan. 19 and run through May 20, on the following schedule:

Monday classes

Tweens 4-5 p.m.

Conservatory 5:15-6:45 p.m.

Tuesday classes

Tots I from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Tots II 5:15-6:15 p.m.

Wednesday classes

Teens 4-5 p.m.

Conservatory 5:15-6:45 p.m.

Registration is open now until Jan. 9 by contacting the Education Director, Courtney Susman. Tuition is $80 per semester or $150 for both spring and spring semesters, if registering for the entire year. Tuition is $65 per semester for each additional child in the same family. Need-based scholarships are available. For scholarship applications, to register or additional information contact Courtney Susman at courtney@gvtheatre.org or call the Education Office at 304-645-3838 opt. 8.
