The “No Kings” rally and community food pantry drive will be held on October 18.

On Friday, Oct. 18, residents of Greenbrier Valley will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lewisburg Green Space as part of a nationwide day of action called “No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.” The event combines a community rally with a food pantry drive benefitting local families.

Organized by the Greenbrier County Democratic Women’s Club and Greenbrier Indivisible, the event is one of many happening across the country affirming that America’s democracy rests with its people, not with any single leader.

The gathering will serve as both a reminder and a celebration that our freedoms were secured through generations of civic engagement, and that they remain strongest when we practice them together. At the end of the day, we’re all neighbors, no matter how much we may disagree, and events like this are about building community as much as they are about raising our voices.

In addition to the rally, participants are encouraged to bring items to benefit local food pantries, especially those not covered by SNAP benefits, such as paper products, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene products.

Attendees are asked to bring their voices, signs, and friends, while respecting city spaces by not disturbing seasonal decorations or blocking sidewalks. Dogs are not permitted in the Greenspace. The event will highlight a commitment to nonviolent action and civic responsibility. Organizers ask that participants seek to de-escalate any confrontations, act lawfully, and refrain from bringing weapons of any kind. Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos on social media using #NoKingsGreenbrierWV to amplify the message of unity, free expression, and community strength.
