The Greenbrier Valley Chorale will hold auditions for its annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 5:30-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Auditions will take place in the Green Room adjacent to Hamilton Auditorium in Carnegie Hall, 105 Church Street in Lewisburg. No appointment is required.
The Chorale is directed by Barbara Lutz and accompanied by Teresa Bryant. It is a volunteer community chorus made up of men and women ranging from advanced high school students to retirees. Their repertoire ranges from classical choral works to folk tunes, spirituals and Broadway favorites.
Auditions are brief and private. Some prior choral singing experience is required. Anyone who has been a member of the group in the past but who has not sung since the 2010-11 performance season is asked to audition again.
The Greenbrier Valley Chorale presents two concerts each year, the first at Christmas and the second in May. This year’s Christmas concert will be on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at Carnegie Hall. The group will perform the same program at Tamarack in Beckley at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22. The first rehearsal will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Carnegie Hall. Rehearsals thereafter will be from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday nights.
If you are unable to attend either audition session but would like to try out, contact Lutz at 304-645-6892 or e-mail barbarawlutz@gmail.com to schedule an alternative time. Further information about the Chorale can be found www.greenbriervalleychorale.org.
