Officials with the Greenbrier River Trail have announced that there have been changes to the planned closure of the Trail due to re-decking projects. As of Monday, Mar. 2, the Trail closure will extend from Harper Road (mile marker 5.5) to Horrock (mile marker 29.64). This will allow the contractor to eliminate redundant mobilization setup and focus on the busiest sections of the Trail during winter and early spring as snow banks and ice dams melt. Ultimately, this will shorten the length of time the Trail is closed.
“We anticipate the section from Harper Road to Anthony Road (mile marker 14.15) will open earlier than the second section north of Anthony Road to Horrock (mile marker 29.64). Please be patient. We all want to complete this project as quickly as possible with a quality result,” states the Trail’s website.
About the Greenbrier River Trail Re-Decking Project:
The Greenbrier River Trail will undergo a significant bridge redecking project over the next two years. The project began in early 2026 at the southern end, near Caldwell. As the work progresses northward, specific sections of the Trail will be closed, each for several weeks at a time. Detours will not be available during these closure periods, and affected segments will be clearly marked.
Up-to-date information will be posted as the project advances. Trail officials ask for your patience and understanding as they complete this important infrastructure improvement. The re-decking project will enhance the safety and longevity of the trail for all users.
