The Greenbrier Humane Society announced that its donation-based spay and neuter voucher program will resume on Apr. 1, helping pet owners throughout the region afford sterilization services for their cats and dogs.
The program partners with local veterinary clinics to provide vouchers that reduce the cost of spay and neuter procedures, an effort aimed at improving animal health and reducing pet overpopulation in the community.
Pet owners interested in receiving a voucher must first schedule an appointment directly with one of the participating veterinary clinics and inform the clinic that they would like to use a donation-based voucher from the Greenbrier Humane Society.
Participating veterinary clinics include Alderson Veterinary Hospital, Seneca Trail Animal Hospital, Valley Vet Clinic/Pickaway Paws, Lewisburg Veterinary Hospital, Greenbrier Veterinary Hospital (current clients only), Frankford Veterinary Hospital (current clients only), and Tri-County Veterinary Services.
After scheduling an appointment, the clinic will add the pet owner to its voucher list. Each clinic receives 10 vouchers per month, and appointments may fill quickly. Clinics submit their lists to the Greenbrier Humane Society at the beginning of each month. Pet owners must then pick up their voucher in person at the Greenbrier Humane Society during the month of their scheduled appointment and before the appointment date. Vouchers will not be emailed or faxed.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Spaying and neutering pets helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces animal overpopulation, and contributes to healthier, longer lives for cats and dogs.
