The Greenbrier East Wrestlers are heading to Greenbrier West High School to wrestle the defending STATE CHAMPIONS on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
This is for the County Championships. The EGMS Wrestlers will compete against Western at 6 p.m. with the High School Teams to follow. Take some time and get out of your house and see some of the Top Wrestlers in the State of West Virginia. Show your County Pride! It will be a Fun evening of exciting Wrestling.

This Tuesday, Feb. 4, we will finally and hopefully (weather permitting for the 4th time) celebrate Senior Night against Beckley. The wrestling match begins at 6 p.m. with the Seniors being recognized and honored. Please come out and pay tribute to our Senior Wrestlers. This year will begin a TRADITION of the “COAL COUNTRY CHALLENGE.” A large Coal Miner Statue and Plaque will go with the winning team. Every year this match will determine the “COAL COUNTRY CHALLENGE CHAMPION.”
It will be a friendly but intense rivalry between Woodrow Wilson and Greenbrier East High Schools. Please help us build this tradition.
Congratulations to Jasiel Kinder’s brother, Isaiah, for signing with the College of William and Mary. The whole Greenbrier East Wrestling Family is proud of him.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR! We will be hosting the COALFIELD CONFERENCE INVITATIONAL Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 7 and 8. The tournament will be held at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School. The start times are Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. The finals will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday. There will be 15 teams, including defending State Champion Greenbrier West and currently ranked #1 Independence. WOW! As of now there are over 40 Wrestlers ranked in the Top Ten in the State that will be competing at this Tournament.

EGMS UPDATE: The EGMS Wrestlers placed the highest in EGMS history at the WSAZ Tournament. In the past two years they have had seven place-winners. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait to get them in High School.

TRIVIA ANSWER: The 2x State High School Wrestling Champion and Super Bowl M.V.P. was Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis. One of my favorites, Roddy White, (Atlanta Falcons) was also a 2x State High School Wresting Champion in South Carolina.
