This week Greenbrier East’s Maya Frank took first place at the Liberty University Open Wrestling Tournament in the 140-pound high school women’s division. On her way to the championship, Frank pinned all of her opponents, including the tournament’s three-time defending champion. This follows Maya’s fourth place finish at the Viper Pit Nationals Tournament (126-pound High School Women’s Division).
Hanna Gill, also of Greenbrier East, finished in second place in the 147-pound women’s division.
Off-season wrestling in national tournaments sharpens a wrestler’s skills and allows them to test themselves against national level opponents. The 2026 high school wrestling season begins Nov. 9th for the girls and Nov. 16th for the boys.
