The Greenbrier East High School Golf Team competed in the WV High School State Golf Tournament in Wheeling on Oct. 6 and 7. Greenbrier East finished seventh out of eight teams in the AAA division with a total of 508, counting a three-player total out of four players on a team each day for two days.
Individual scores for two days for Greenbrier East were Jacobey Gore 81-84–165, Madison Erskine 90-84–174, Thomas Willis 93-81–174, and Luke Hanna 88-90–178. Cabell Midland was first with 476. Wheeling Park was second with 477. Parkersburg South was third with 492. Spring Valley was fourth with 494. Washington and George Washington tied for fifth with 504. Greenbrier East was sevenh with 508. Spring Mills was eighth with 527. Dylan Wojcik of Wheeling Park was the medalist with 77-71–148. Isaiah Zeccheo, a sophomore from Woodrow Wilson, tied for second with a 75-76–151 and Adeena Shears, a senior from Parkersburg South, also had 75-76–151 to tie for second lowest individual scores in AAA. Shears received a golf scholarship from Ohio State.
