Two Greenbrier County elementary schools marked important milestones Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, with ceremonies celebrating progress in school facilities and future opportunities for students.
Frankford Elementary School hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of a $7.3 million renovation and construction project. The improvements, made possible through West Virginia School Building Authority funding and local contributions, include additional classrooms, a secure entrance, updated administrative offices, accessibility improvements, and upgraded student drop-off areas.
The celebration included student participation through the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem, and a fourth-grade choir performance of “I’m Ready to Go.” School and community representatives gathered to recognize the completion of the project and its benefits to students and staff.
Later in the day, White Sulphur Springs Elementary School held a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the beginning of a $14.4 million modernization project.
The planned improvements include a new multipurpose room designed to serve as a gymnasium and gathering space, a secure main entrance, updated administrative offices, HVAC and electrical improvements, new windows and roofing, restroom upgrades, and improved bus and parent drop-off areas.
School officials and community members celebrated the investment in the school’s future, highlighting the importance of providing students with safe, modern, and functional learning environments.
Together, the two projects represent a significant investment in Greenbrier County’s educational efforts to improve schools for current and future generations.
