The Greenbrier County Commission held their regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. The meeting began by affirming the days, times, and Courthouse hours for adopting the 2025 holiday calendar. A motion was made to approve their meeting days on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 10 a.m. and have the Courthouse hours continue to be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Next on the agenda was the confirmation of the Commissioners’ assignments to their respective committees. The proposed Board of Equalization and review meeting dates were set for Jan. 31 and Feb. 5, 11, 14, 20, and 26 all at 9 a.m.
For financial approvals, a motion was made for the following Arts and Recreation transfers to be made from savings to the checking: Meadow River Trail: $4,608.75 for the engineering of Phase 3 of the trail, $3,207.77 for the engineering of Phase 3 of the trail, Central Greenbrier Little League will receive $1,820 for field fertilizer; and $10,990.46 for second quarter for the Lewisburg, Ronceverte, and White Sulphur Springs libraries.
Regarding new business, there was a consideration of payment of Resolution # 9 for the Rt. 60 East Sewer project (WSS TIF project). The payment is for Micro Contracting Incorporated in the amount of $276,378.34 as well as a payment to E.L. Robinson Engineering for $24,522.51; for a total amount of $300,900.85. The motion for payment of Resolution #9 was approved. Next on the agenda was a motion for consideration of payment for Resolution #3 for the Mapledale Tank project (WSS TIF project), including payment for the land right of way to two different individuals for $19,000 and $19,500 and reimbursement to the city of White Sulphur Springs for $1,000, totaling $39,500, this motion was approved. The motion for consideration of Resolution #1 – payment of administrative fees for the WSS TIF project to Region 4 for $12,934.05, all the TIF projects are grouped together under one administration; this motion was approved.
County employee Vince Deeds requested a leave of absence from Monday, Feb. 10 through Friday, Apr. 11 to perform his WV Senate legislative duties, and the leave of absence was approved. Jeff Ray was recommended and approved to fill the Greenbrier County Planning Department building inspector vacancy based on his background, interests, and credentials. Shayne Bennett was recommended to fill the vacancy of the Permitting Specialist in the Greenbrier County Planning Department; the motion is pending as the background check is still pending.
The next meeting of the Commission will be on the fourth Tuesday of the month, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. in the new County Commission chambers of the Greenbrier County Courthouse.
