At the latest meeting of the Greenbrier County Commission, commissioners adopted several proclamations and agreements. A proclamation was issued recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. As part of this recognition, the Commission announced the Children’s Memorial Flag Day Ceremony, which will be held at noon on Friday, Apr. 25, in front of the Greenbrier County Courthouse.
Another proclamation was approved recognizing the week of May 4-10, 2025, as National Travel and Tourism Week, aiming to celebrate the contributions of tourism to the local economy and community.
Commissioners also voted to transfer funds from the county’s savings account to its checking account for parks and recreation-related expenditures. The approved transfers included $15,194.83 allocated to the Greenbrier Historical Society, $5,677.90 directed to the Western Greenbrier Little League, and $9,465.30 distributed among the libraries in Alderson, Rainelle, and White Sulphur Springs.
The Commission approved an order to transfer the Elective Shares Petition for the Estate of J. Patrick Doppleman from the Greenbrier County Commission and Fiduciary Supervisor to the Greenbrier County Circuit Court docket. Additionally, the 2025-2026 Greenbrier County Humane Society Contractual Agreement and the 2025-2026 Greenbrier County Flood Control Dam and Channel Operation Maintenance Agreement in the amount of $2,200 were both approved.
A resolution to donate emergency communications equipment to the Summers County Emergency 911 Communications Center was approved. Another resolution for the donation of similar equipment to the Wyoming County Emergency 911 Communications Center was considered.
Lastly, the Commission authorized the submission of a grant application to the West Virginia Emergency Management Department. The application seeks funding under the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program to bolster local cybersecurity efforts.
