For the past several years, the Greenbrier Artists have cooperated with the Lewisburg Literary Festival to celebrate reading and art by creating paintings based on the written word. The exhibit is held at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center on East Washington Street in Lewisburg.
This year’s exhibit, “Paintings from Poems!” will open Aug. 5. The reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. as part of First Fridays after Five. The artists will show works that have been inspired by poems written by the artists or by their family members.
Greenbrier Artists is a nonprofit group dedicated to the education and promotion of art. They currently have a membership of more than 90 area artists who work in watercolors, pastels, oils, acrylics, fabric, and mixed media. They meet each week at Carnegie Hall to paint, share ideas and demonstrations.
Come meet the artists and enjoy refreshments on First Friday, Aug. 5. The Visitors Center exhibit will continue throughout the month of August.

Greenbrier Artists invite the public to a First Friday Celebration on Aug. 5 to enjoy “Paintings from Poems” in conjunction with the Lewisburg Literary Festival.
