The Green Grocer and Sunnyside Café in Alderson will be open from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 to give visitors to Alderson a chance to sample their wares. These hours will complement the hours of the Christmas Home Tour, Tea, and Performance sponsored by Alderson Main Street and other merchants who will also be open on this special Sunday afternoon.
The Green Grocer will be offering some free samples of their food as well as drinks and the Sunnyside Café will be offering peppermint twist coffee. Betty Thomas, president of Alderson Main Street, said, “I know a lot of people have wanted to visit our very special grocery store and maybe just haven’t had the chance yet. On Sunday, everyone can shop in the regular Alderson shops and the Methodist bazaar; tour The Cedars, have some English tea, listen to carols by Nancy Wood, and a performance by Elizabeth Spangler as Mrs. Alexander McVeigh Miller; and really get in the Christmas spirit.”
Mayor Travis Copenhaver said, “Everyone, including the town, has gone above and beyond this year with Christmas decorations. I really appreciate our town workers and everyone else who has helped make us look so festive. We are looking forward to lots of visitors coming to see us sparkle!”
