Gov. Morrisey announces Amazon expansion bringing jobs, faster delivery to WV

Governor Patrick Morrisey joined local leaders and community partners to celebrate the opening of Amazon’s first operations facilities in Davisville and Beaver, bringing new jobs and faster delivery times to communities across the state.

“Amazon’s continued investment in West Virginia marks an important milestone for our state,” said Governor Morrisey. “These facilities in Davisville and Beaver represent more than just buildings – they’re a sign that West Virginia is growing and competing for major employers.”

The two facilities will support approximately 500 jobs, including Amazon employees and delivery drivers working through local delivery service partners. These small business partners will be established alongside the new facilities, creating additional economic opportunities in the region.

“For the first time, West Virginians will see Amazon delivery trucks operating right here at home,” said Governor Morrisey. “That means faster delivery, new jobs, and more opportunity for our communities.”

Amazon’s grand opening builds on a wave of record-breaking private sector investment announcements in West Virginia, totaling $12.8 billion and more than 11,000 projected jobs since last October. When combining public sector investments such as BEAD and the Rural Health Transformation Program, those numbers reach $14.3 billion in investments and more than 12,000 projected jobs.

Unlike traditional delivery stations, both facilities include small-scale fulfillment operations that allow for faster access to everyday essentials such as household goods, pet supplies, and other frequently ordered items. This capability supports faster delivery times, including same-day service for some orders in surrounding communities.

“With hundreds of quality jobs offering competitive wages, this investment will strengthen our communities and create new opportunities for hardworking West Virginians,” Governor Morrisey said. “We look forward to continuing to work with Amazon as they grow here and build a partnership that delivers for West Virginians for years to come.”
