Glen Rayburn Hunter, 87, of Crawley, WV, passed away on July 23, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born Mar. 16, 1938, to Ray and Mildred Hunter.

Glen was a hard working man. He served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard. He was a retired logger, who enjoyed working with his dad, brothers and sons. He was one of the original junkyard pickers and he had a greater appreciation for older antiques than most people have of new things.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy “Sizemore” Hunter, daughters Terrie Grimmett and Donna Hunter; parents Ray and Mildred Hunter; brothers Gilmer, Gary, Granville, Gaynel, Gerald and Gene Hunter; sister Garnet Hunter, and daughter-in-law Linda “Charlette” Hunter.

Glen is survived by sons Michael (Pamela) Hunter and David (Kathy) Hunter; daughters Teresa (Ronnie) Shuck, and Tonia (Wanda) Hunter and son in law Barry Grimmett. Also left are granddaughters Erica (Ryan) Whitt, April (Travis) Herndon, Ashley (Daniel) Butler, Mandy (Tom) Cannon, LaTasha (Brandon) Owens, Stephanie (Jared) Worley, Brittany (Jeremy) Radford, Amy (Will) Cantley, and Heather (Ryan) Bostic; grandson John Cantley; great grandchildren Lindsey and Sara Whitt, Abby (Jared) Seals, Julia (Kyle) Holliday, Lucas Herndon, Ben and Melanie Butler, Cameron (Grace) Cannon, Dana Cannon, Bryson, Abraham and Charleigh Owens, Cash and Charlee Worley, Kendal, Kadence and Paxton Radford, Jaylee Cantley and great-great grandson Jameson Cannon. Also surviving are sisters Gwenda (Doug) Heaster, Gala Sheppard, Gilda Cary and Galena Knapp and many nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank Will Lewis, John Cantley and Jessica Bowles for the companionship they provided to Glen. They also want to give a special thank you to Sara Whitt for all the love and compassion she showed to her great grandfather these last few months.

The family would also like to give a special thank you to Tia and the rest of the nursing home staff at Seneca Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle, WV at 2 p.m. with Danny Legg officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Greenbrier Humane Society in Glen’s name.
