The Greenbrier East Golf Team competed in the WV High School Golf Challenge held at the Par 70 Lewisburg Elk’s Club on Aug. 4. Out of 12 teams that competed the GEHS team finished 3rd. Four players played on each team counting the total of the three low scores.
Roane County won first place with a total of 218. Poca finished 2nd with a total of 227. GEHS was the 3rd with 228. The rest of the teams and totals were as follows: George Washington “A” team – 229, Wyoming East – 236, Webster County – 237, Huntington – 240, Fairmont Senior – 242, Buckhannon – 251, George Washington “B” team – 253, and Richwood – 264. Ritchie County only had two players.
Medalist was Cam Moore of Roane County with a 69. Madison Erskine of GEHS had a 72 along with Alex Hamrick of Poca who also had a 72 to tie for second. GEHS individual scores were Madison Erskine – 72, Luke Hanna – 76, Jacobey Gore – 80, and Thomas Willis – 83.
