The Greenbrier East Gold Team finished second out of eight AAA high school teams that were competing in the regional tournament at the Lewisburg Elk’s Club par 70 course.
Four-player teams competed counting the three low-player totals. The low two teams, plus the low two medalists not on either team, qualified to play in the West Virignia High School State Tournament at Wheeling, Oglebay Park, Speidel Course, On Tuesday, Oct. 4 and Wednesday, Oct. 5.
George Washington High School finished first with a total of 229. Players’ scores were Joseph Kalaskey – 73, Willie Roncaglione – 78, Toren Kalaskey – 78 and John Logan Taylor – 78. The coach is B.J. Calabrese.
GEHS Gold team had a total of 238. Scores were Jacobey Gore – 76, Colin Wiley – 79, Gavin Ray – 83 and Dwain Sheppard – 86. Coaches are Terry Koon and Mac Parks.
Woodrow Wilson finished third with 240. Scores were Chase Childress – 78 (medalist), Jackson Hill – 79 (medalist), Jarrett Childress – 83 and Hunter Tolliver – 98. The coach is Butch Freeman.
Capital was fourth with 262. Princeton was fifth with 272. St. Albans was sixth with 292. South Charleston was seventh with 303. Riverside was eighth with 344.
