Dear Editor:

The management and staff of Gateway Industries Inc. would like to thank the Ronceverte community for their support in making the Summer Food Program a success. This program is part of the West Virginia Department of Education, Office of Child Nutrition, with funding from the Federal Government. Additionally, some of the food served this summer was provided through the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Gateway, in partnership with the governmental agencies noted above, and with the support of the Greenbrier County Department of Health, was able to provide quality lunches to the children of our community five days per week throughout a good portion of the summer. We also want to thank the Greenbrier County Health Alliance, a project of the WVSOM, Center for Rural and Community Health for a mini-grant in the amount of $1,000 to assist Gateway with the operating cost of the Summer Food Program.

Gateway thanks Heath Bennet, owner of Tri-County Produce for helping to make fresh fruits and vegetables available for us on a regular basis. A special note of thanks to the staff of the Greenbrier County Board of Education, particularly, Ms. Jenny Curry, and Rita Honaker, who assisted Gateway to secure fresh milk each day for the children and the guidance they gave us as first time providers of this service. A thank you to Cheryl Drumheller of the White Sulphur Springs Elementary School for her support on this project, the owners of Jim’s Drive-In and Jeff Vanball of Vanball’s in Green Sulphur Springs for helping us to have access to the condiments needed to embellish our lunches. Thanks to another loyal friend and supporter of Gateway, Mr. Michael Kidd of WRON Radio for advertising the program throughout its entirety. Finally, and of utmost importance, we would like to thank the Board of Directors of Gateway for supporting this program and their desire to see that all children in our community had the opportunity to enjoy a healthy and nutritious lunch.

To all of those who were there to support this program, again, we thank you, without your assistance it would not have been possible.
