Gary Lee Carter, 68, of Ronceverte, passed away on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

Gary was born January 3, 1950 in Summers County and was the son of the late Harold B. and Norma Jean Wenger Carter.

Gary was a former deputy director and dispatcher for the 911 Center in Greenbrier County. He was a life member of the Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department with over 40 years of service, having served in the various positions within the department. Gary had served as a former police officer with the Ronceverte Police Department.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Candy Carter.

Surviving are his loving wife; Norma Christian Carter, daughters; Tina Guthrie and her husband David of Ronceverte and Cindy Heaster- and her husband Chad of Clintonville, grandchildren; Eric Guthrie (Amber), Ryan Guthrie, Lauren Heaster and Haylee Heaster, great grandchildren; Chase Guthrie and Braxton Doss, brothers; Jerry Wayne Carter and wife Joyce of Fort Spring, Eddie Carter of Fort Spring, Dennis Carter and wife Martha of Hematite, VA and Joe Carter of Pickaway.

Funeral services for Gary will be Sunday January 21,2018 at 3:00PM at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Stewart Farley and Pastor Ray Propps officiating, with interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00PM until time of services at the funeral home.
