The Greenbrier Valley Master Gardeners and the Greenbrier County WVU Extension Office are sponsoring a free workshop on plant and tree pruning on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at the WV fairgrounds. This demonstration is the third that will again be presented by Dr. Mira Bulatovic-Danilovich from West Virginia University in Morgantown. Location of the pruning demonstration will begin at the pavilion next to the demonstration garden at the WV state fairgrounds. The garden and the pavilion are located on the north end of the fairgrounds.
Dr. Danilovich is the Horticulture Specialist and Associate Professor at West Virginia University and is also the WV State Master Gardener Coordinator. She earned her PhD in pomology (the study and cultivation of fruit) from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. She is a specialist in orchard production and management. Dr. Danilovich studied and worked at Michigan State University Extension for 20 years as District Horticultural Educator/Commercial Horticulturist (fruit tree production and management) and as a County Extension Director before accepting her current position at West Virginia University.
Greenbrier County is fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and distinguished specialist visit our county to volunteer her expertise on pruning techniques to anyone interest in this topic. For the past two years Dr. Danilovich has offered this workshop which has been attended by approximately 65 people each year. Anyone who would like to learn about pruning techniques is welcome to come to this free demonstration at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Please contact the WVU Extension office for Greenbrier County at 304- 647-7408 with any questions about the demonstration.
