Ornaments to Decorate Governor’s Mansion Holiday Tree

First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin encourages West Virginia artists to create and submit ornaments to be displayed on the Governor’s Mansion Holiday Tree as part of the 3rd annual Artistree project. Submitted ornaments will be featured in the 2013 Artistree Catalog, and participating artists will be invited to a special celebration at the Governor’s Mansion.

“We have had great success with artists getting involved the past couple of years,” said First Lady Tomblin. “This marks the third year for the Artistree and we are hoping for the largest one yet. We invite all artists across the Mountain State to join in the holiday festivities and submit ornaments to help us decorate the Governor’s Mansion Holiday tree.”

“The Artistree has become a winter tradition and an important part of our holiday celebrations,” Gov. Tomblin said. “Its ornaments are a reflection of our state’s culture and history-showcasing the talent of artists from across West Virginia.”

The Artistree will be unveiled in conjunction with Joyful Night, the annual holiday celebration at the State Capitol complex, which will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3.

For submission information and printable form please visit www.wvculture.org/arts/artistree/2013form.pdf. Ornaments must be received no later than Friday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. For more information, contact the Governor’s Mansion at 304-558-3588.
