The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center welcomes two unique art displays to celebrate the arrival of fall. October’s “Art in the Valley” display, “Celebrating the Ginkgo Tree,” will honor the ginkgo tree that graces the lawn of Academy Park. Members of Greenbrier Artists have painted their interpretations of this beloved tree. Local artist Susanna Robinson will also debut an eclectic show entitled “Gypsy Wings and Witchy Things.” She will be on hand to chat about her exhibit of framed paper collages, fabric art, costumes and witch hats … just in time for Halloween. Toe tapping tunes will be provided throughout the evening by local band Strum Sum. (200 W. Washington Street, 304-645-1000)
Bella is falling all over new wines and new foods. Stop by for a tasting or two. Also, enter your name in the drawing to win a basket chocked full of West Virginia items, perfect for watching the big games. (1017 Washington Street E, 304-520-4921)
Ghoulies and ghosties, and long leggedy beasties, and things that go bump in the night…with Halloween fast approaching, Vintage 102 invites you to open the coffin lid to reveal a corpse full of special discounts. Dare you stare at our a-Mazie-ing window mannequin, lest it spring to life and turn your blood to stone? Remember, in Vintage 102, nobody can hear you scream… (975 Washington Street West, 304-992-1578)
At Plants Etc., experience a Gong Garden. Blaine McClung will play several gongs, while listeners gather around. (102 South Jefferson Street, 304-645-6910)
