First Fridays after Five returns September 2

first fridaysHistoric Downtown Lewisburg celebrates First Fridays after Five on Friday, Sept. 2. Join everyone in downtown Lewisburg for live music, story-telling and tarot readings. All events are free to the public. Everyone is welcome.
Visit the city Green Space to enjoy live music by Pokey and the Hurry Ups, performing cover tunes of everyone from Fleetwood Mac, Radio Head, Merle Haggard to David Bowie.
The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center welcomes a traveling exhibit, Robert C. Byrd: Senator, Statesman, West Virginian. The exhibit, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Senator Robert C. Byrd in 2017, is produced by the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History & Education at Shepherd University. The exhibit shares the story of the longest serving United States Senator: his early life and entrance into politics; his devotion to family and to West Virginia and her people; his public service and rise to leadership positions in the U.S. Senate; and the Senator’s role as defender of the U.S. Constitution. The exhibit features documents and photographs from the extensive Robert C. Byrd Congressional Papers Collection. The evening will feature light refreshments and special remarks by Congressmen Nick Rahall and Alan Mollohan at 6:30 p.m. (200 W. Washington Street 304-645-1000)
Plants Etc. presents Christen McCormack’s “Tarot for the Soul,” free tarot readings. (102 South Jefferson Street, 645-6910)
Love Child presents Story Time at 5:30 p.m. with cookies. Also, enjoy game demonstrations throughout the store. (124 West Washington Street, 520-4934)
The Asylum is having a Monticola Meadery release party, starting at 7 p.m., with a new cocktail list made from the mead. Also, live music until late in the evening. (114 East Randolph Street, 681-318-3515)
The Irish Pub presents Patrick O’Flaherty playing Celtic music from 4-8:30 p.m. The Rivertown Gypsies will take the stage from 9 p.m. to midnight. (109 East Washington Street, 645-7386)
First Fridays after 5 takes place all year long in downtown Lewisburg with shops, galleries and restaurants in downtown Lewisburg open until 9 p.m., serving complimentary refreshments and entertainment, sponsored by City National Bank. Downtown Lewisburg, America’s Coolest Small Town, is just 1 mile south of I-64 via exit 169. The town center is located at Washington Street (Rt. 60) and Jefferson Street (Rt. 219).
