Refrigeration Recycling LLC is proud to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Greenbrier County Solid Waste Authority (GCSWA).

Beginning Feb. 17, the partnership will allow the disposal and recycling of refrigerants and refrigeration equipment by the authority within the guidelines of Environmental Protection Agency as required by Section 608 of the Clean Air Act Amendments, National Recycling and Emission Reduction Program, and subsequent EPA regulations and standards.

“This agreement will now allow us to accept for the first time air conditioning units, refrigerators, and freezers,” says Bob Bennett, manager of the Greenbrier Recycling Center, “both here in Ronceverte at the recycling center and at the landfill on Harper Road. This will allow residents and businesses of our service area of Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Monroe and Summers counties to properly dispose of refrigeration equipment, help protect the ozone layer, and clean up our environment. Because we are not limited to accepting items from just our service area we welcome individuals and business from throughout the state to make use of this new service.”

Refrigeration Recycling, which is located in Frankford, is in the business of reclaiming refrigerants and refurbishing refrigeration equipment. “Our company is dedicated to serving the needs of both its local and broader community in order to promote a sustainable economy through reuse and recycling,” says Michael Monte, EPA-certified technician and founder, “This is our first step with area nonprofits towards providing these services throughout southeastern West Virginia.”

The Greenbrier Recycling Center is located at 812 Monroe Avenue (former Coca Cola Building) in Ronceverte and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 to 11:45 a.m., however, their recycle bins are open 24/7. The Greenbrier County Landfill is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and directions and tonnage rates can be obtained at 304)-645-2489.
