On Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 6-8 p.m., the WVU Extension Service is hosting an educational event featuring two visiting foresters from Finnish Forest Center. They are touring our region to meet with other American foresters to discuss forest management and how Finnish forestry might integrate with American forestry. Leena Leskinen (Business manager and forester) will give a general overview of forestry in Finland, how it is important to Finnish society and how forest resources integrates with the broader European Union. She will also talk about the importance of forest industry. Jussi Lappalainen (Forest data manager) has broad experience with forest operations and management. In this presentation he will feature some of the management issues and practices used in Finland. Jussi is also an avid moose hunter and so might be encouraged to share some of those stories.
