Lewisburg-Ethel Pauline Dowdy Fisher Hylton, 95, surrounded by family, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, after spending 21 years battling the frontlines of many health issues at the Briar Nursing Home in Lewisburg.
Pauline was born July 13, 1920, at Union. She was the daughter of the late Everod James and Rosa Bostic Dowdy.
Pauline was retired from the Hanover Shoe Factory in White Sulphur Springs. She also enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Marshall Fisher, and her second husband, Willie Ivan Hylton; son, James P. Fisher; three brothers, Jessie James Dowdy, Robert Lee Dowdy and Richard Hayes Dowdy; sister, Mary Bennett; and daughter-in-law, Betty Fisher.
Survivors include: three sons, Frank Fisher and wife Francis of Greensboro, NC, Donnie Fisher of Lewisburg and Willie J. Hylton and wife Patty of Frankford; two daughters, Polly Burns and husband Bill of Ronceverte and Sue Martin and husband Roger of Union; four sisters, Anna Mae Sears of Union, Reddi Allen of Union, Betty Cochran of White Sulphur Springs and Louise Spangler of Union; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery at Union.
Visitation was Thursday evening, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.
