Hanno Kirk and Jo Weisbrod will talk about their September journey to Dharamsala, India, on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4-6 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Old Stone Church in Lewisburg
Kirk had been invited to attend a four day teaching event by the Dalai Lama by Minh Chau Le from Vietnam at a conference this summer in California. She was the leader of a delegation of Buddhists from her country that comes to attend the annual teaching of Buddhist precepts and meditation practices at the temple complex in Dharamsala. On the first day of the teaching, during a break, Kirk had the opportunity to briefly talk with the Dalai Lama and tell him about his book “Neuroscience,” a topic of longstanding personal interested to the Dalai Lama. Having piqued his curiosity, Kirk received a promise for a personal audience. Two days after the conclusion of the teaching event, Kirk and Weisbrod received a phone call at 6:30 AM in their room to come to the Dalai Lama’s residence for a private audience.
On Nov.14, Kirk and Weisbrod will share their stories and photo slides of their 17 day adventure, and their 20 minute private meeting with the Dalai Lama. Please enter through the double doors of the Education Building on Foster Street. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
