Dry Ridge, KY-Emma Lorene Spence, 87, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, passed away Friday, Mar. 8, 2019, in Kentucky.

She was born Nov. 15, 1931, in White Sulphur Springs to late Emmett Russell and Mabel Jewel (Ward) Grimmett of White Sulphur Springs.

Lorene was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed many years of working at Greenbrier Youth Camp with her dear friend Emilee. She was of Christian faith and member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; son, Michael Richard Spence; sisters, Madge Lewis, Dorothy Page Grimmett and Ruth Helen Grimmett; brothers, Emmett Junior Grimmett and William Ronald Grimmett.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Ratterman (Mike), Larry Spence (Sheena), and Jonny Spence (Linda); sisters, Betty Jane Cookendorfer (Mike) of Harrison, OH, and Delores Comey of Cleveland, OH; and brother, Glen Edward Grimmett (Janice) of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Josh Spence (Tabitha), Christa Reed (Joe), Brian Spence (Alex), Levi Spence, Jordan (Dominick) Prinster, Nicholas Ratterman, Matthew Ratterman, Jessica Shaffer (Alex), Brooke Hockenberry (Brandon), Samantha Hockenberry; and Stephanie Brewster Case; great-grandchildren; Jordan Spence, Emma Spence, Charlotte Spence, Hunter Spence and Layne Shaffer; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Mar. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Wallace & Wallace in White Sulphur Springs on Saturday, Mar. 16, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Okey King officiating. Interment to follow in the McCreary Cemetery on Tuckahoe Road, in White Sulphur Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church or Hospice (Care Navigators of the Bluegrass).
