Emily Vie Carter

Caldwell-Emily Vie Carter, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014.

Born Mar. 31, 1933, at Organ Cave, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Nanny Grace Bare.

Vie was preceded in death by: her husband, Dwite Clayton Carter; son, Richard Leon Carter; grandchildren, Dwayne Carter and Jamie Carter; brothers, Charles S. Bare, Merle M. Bare, Willie “Dutch” Bare, Mac Bare and Alfred Bare; and sister, Millie Plogger.

She is survived by: three children, Michael W. Carter and wife Linda of Nashville, TN, Melvin “PeeWee” Carter and wife Donna of Sinks Grove and Deborah C. Nelson and husband Billy of Caldwell; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lattice, Kimberly Walfh, David Carter, Bobby Carter, Shawn Carter, Kerri Dunhar, Katrina Wade and Nicole Pettijohn; numerous great-grandchildren, including Mackenzy, who took good care of her great-grandmother; and sister, Nan Pennington of Brookville, PA.

She was cremated as was her husband Dwite. There was a joint memorial service held Sunday, Oct. 12, at Highland Park Community Church.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte was in charge of arrangements.
