Lewisburg – Emily Burns Legg formerly of Charleston, WV, died Wednesday,  Jan. 10, 2018, at the age of 79. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at the family farm where she once played as a child. Emily’s courage and unending faith in the Lord carried her through the challenges of declining health.

Emily was born Aug. 30, 1938. in Charleston. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1956 and attended Marshall College. She retired after a long career at Marshall College of Graduate studies and the University of Charleston. She was an avid reader, loved gardening and traveling to visit family. She attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Richlands.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, L.L. and Annabel Burns; sister, Karen Blakey; son, Robert Robinson; and grandson, Austin Abbitt.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Eugene Legg of Lewisburg; her children, Terri Hanna (Wyatt) of South Charleston, Vicki Prosser of Lewisburg, Wyatt Abbitt (Shilpa) of Edmond, OK, and Alex Abbitt (Julia) of Morgantown; as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service for immediate family at a later date.
