House of Delegates: District 46
Thomas Perkins – R
Thomas Perkins, a Republican candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in the 46th district, is a devoted father of three young children, Jonathan, Lucy, and Lilly, residing in Frankford, WV. His passion for juvenile justice reform is deeply rooted in his own childhood experiences, having endured two years in the state’s custody, where he witnessed appalling abuse and human rights violations. Today, Perkins is dedicated to shedding light on the unchecked injustices prevalent in many juvenile treatment facilities, where children are subjected to regular abuse and denied their fundamental right to education. Shockingly, some of these facilities exploit vulnerable youth for profit through controlled pharmaceutical testing. Perkins is unwavering in his commitment to advocating for meaningful reforms to safeguard the safety and well-being of all children in state custody. In addition to his political aspirations, Thomas Perkins is a talented professional photographer and photojournalist. Alongside his advocacy work, Perkins embraces a Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, and Pro-Trump stance. To learn more about his campaign and initiatives, visit ThomasPerkinsWV.com.
House of Delegates: District 47
George “Boogie” Ambler – R
I am George “Boogie” Ambler, and I want to be your Delegate in the WV House of Delegates from the 47th district of Greenbrier County. I am a retired Greenbrier County school teacher, having served 25 years in the classroom. In addition to my teaching experience, my diverse working career has included highway and residential construction, farming and business in general. I have served 6 years previous as your friend in your WV House (2012-2018). My major committee assignments included; finance, energy, education and minor committees of transportation, agriculture, vice chairman of the national resources committee, and the chairman of the WV State Flood Committee. Due to the diversity of my working career, I am able to bring a “common sense” approach to the complicated issues that law makers encounter while deciding the future of our state. My work ethics and established credibility give me the ability to work within my party and to reach across the aisle to ensure good sound bills become law. I will not need on-the-job training! I will be ready to Boogie. Thank you for your support.
House of Delegates: District 47
Stephen Snyder – R
Bringing our family home to West Virginia 16 years ago was the best decision of our lives. Twenty years of Coast Guard service took me to many distant shores performing drug enforcement, deterring illegal immigration, rescue operations, and much more, but the mountains of West Virginia were always calling. When John Denver sang Country Roads on the radio, it put a lump in my throat that can only be understood by those who have experienced our incredible state. People out of state ask “Why West Virginia”. If you have to ask, you just wouldn’t understand.
I will stand alongside all West Virginians as we move our state forward. I absolutely oppose federal overreach, will work for smaller government, fiscal responsibility, transparency in government. I will support TERM LIMITS legislation at the state and federal level. I will NOT accept ANY money from Political Action Committees (PACS), lobbyists, or special interest groups. The vote belongs to the people, not liberal out of state money that arrives under a dark cloak and purchases politicians who sell out.
We need capable, ethical, and ETHICAL representatives to “SERVE”. Visit our Facebook for more information (Stephen Snyder for House of Delegates).
House of Delegates: District 47
Roger Vannoy – D
My name is Roger Vannoy, and I’m a Democrat running for Delegate in the 47th district. I’m running for office because our state is in rough shape, and under the Republican super majority in the state legislature, it’s only getting worse. In this last session, the state legislature cut 147 million dollars out of Medicaid. This Medicaid cut will hurt elderly and disabled West Virginians. People will lose the services they rely on to stay healthy and independent. The Opioid crisis claims 1200 West Virginians each year, but the state legislature does nothing to fight back. There are 1700 teacher vacancies across our state, but the state legislature does nothing to actually attract teachers to our state to fill those vacancies. The cost of living is crushing the working class, but the state legislature does nothing to help. Its time for a change in Charleston. West Virginia needs new leadership to fix our problems that the current state legislature has no desire to fix. Vote for me, Roger Vannoy, in the May and November elections. Elect a Democratic House, Senate and Governor, then we can get to work healing West Virginia.
Greenbrier County Circuit Court Judge, District 29, Division 1:
Ryan Blake
I’m very excited to announce my candidacy for Circuit Court Judge (Division 1) for Greenbrier and Pocahontas Counties. As an assistant prosecutor for Greenbrier County for over 16 years, I have dedicated my career to public service, trying to always make the right decisions for the right reasons, while striving to be fair to all parties, and I intend to bring that approach to the bench.
The son of Ralph and Brenda Blake, I came back home to Greenbrier County following law school because I wanted to make a difference in my community. I began to appreciate the role of a circuit judge when I first worked for Judge Jolliffe as his clerk. In my current role, I appear in the courtroom daily, handling an extensive caseload and trying matters of community concern. I intend to take what I have learned from those experiences, along with my own respectful temperament, to bring about a new era for justice. One that focuses on accountability toward those who perpetrate crime upon our community, effective and supported community-based correctional programs, and placing the best interests of our children at the forefront.
I would be honored by your support and vote. Thank you.
Greenbrier County Circuit Court Judge: District 29, Division 1:
Robert Richardson
It’s been my honor to serve as your circuit judge since 2014. When I took office, I faced a huge backlog of cases, but through hard work and efficient case management, that backlog is gone; cases are now heard and resolved in a timely manner. If re-elected, I pledge to maintain a high standard of integrity and continue to treat everyone in the court system with respect.
Before taking the bench, I practiced law for 27 years, handling the wide range of cases that now come before me as judge. Criminal cases constitute only about 30% of the court’s workload, so a background in all areas of the law is essential to my role as a judge.
I was raised in Greenbrier County, along with five siblings, by our parents, John and Frances Richardson, and graduated from West Virginia University, where I served as the Mountaineer mascot. I attended law school at the University of Virginia and was an editor of the Virginia Law Review.
I’m active in the community, volunteering with 4-H, Habitat for Humanity, and other organizations. My wife Susan and I have been married 38 years, have two daughters, and our first grandchild due in a few days.
Greenbrier County Circuit Court Judge, District 29, Division 2
Patrick I. Via
I am pleased and excited to announce my candidacy for Circuit Court Judge (Division 2) in the 29th Judicial Circuit. I am currently the Prosecuting Attorney of Greenbrier County, serving in my sixteenth year, having been elected to the first of four terms in 2008.
I am especially proud of the love and support from my wife of nearly thirty years, Jeri Banton Via, and our two sons, Cooper and Tucker. I have received immeasurable support from my family over the course of my career and I firmly believe that the values that we share as a family are the values that we all share as a community.
I believe that my vast courtroom experience over the past thirty years will lend itself to the duties of a judge. My years of experience as a prosecutor have enabled me to see the difficulties that our citizens face, including the plague of drug abuse and addiction, child neglect and abuse and the fear of being unsafe in our own communities. As a judge, I will take these experiences to the courtroom to conduct my role fairly, prudently and in accordance with the law.
Greenbrier County Family Court Judge, Circuit 15
Grady Ford
I’m Grady Ford and I’m a third-generation lawyer in the Greenbrier Valley. I’ve been practicing law for nearly 15 years. After serving as an editor of the law review and graduating in the top of my class at WVU Law, I spent my first six years of practice in Charleston gaining valuable skills and experience serving as a law clerk to federal appeals court Judge Robert King, a large regional law firm, and the City of Charleston.
When my wife, Jocelyn, and I learned that she was expecting what would be the first of our two wonderful daughters, we were excited to move home to Lewisburg in 2015 to join my father and grandfather’s law practice in Lewisburg. Since coming home I’ve spent countless hours counseling and representing children and adults in family and circuit court in every kind of domestic relations matter there is. I know first-hand how hard and important those cases are and the incredible challenges that they pose. In addition to top notch legal experience, I bring the real-life experience of raising children today. I’ve got right temperament, judgement, and down to earth common sense to be the Family Court Judge Greenbrier and Monroe Counties deserve.
Greenbrier County Family Court Judge, Circuit 15
Kelly Kemp
Kelly Kemp has been practicing law in West Virginia for 33 years. She graduated from the WVU College of Law in 1990 and moved to Hinton, where she engaged in the general practice of law in several counties, including Greenbrier and Monroe. In 1996, Kelly moved to Greenbrier County, where she served as the Attorney for the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement for 28 years. As the Attorney for the Bureau, Kelly has remained neutral and impartial, qualities that are essential for a Family Court Judge. She has dedicated her career to family law and would be honored to continue this public service for children and families as Family Court Judge. Kelly knows that Family Court can be a difficult and stressful place, and she recognizes the importance of treating the parties with courtesy and respect in this stressful environment. Her years in Family Court have helped her develop a disposition that puts the parties at ease. She has the experience, skills, and temperament to be an exceptional Family Court Judge, as well as compassion and understanding for the people who appear in Family Court. She is eager to serve the people of Greenbrier and Monroe Counties with fairness and efficiency.
Greenbrier County Commission
Tammy Shifflett Tincher – R
My name is Tammy Shifflett Tincher and have been honored to serve Greenbrier County as your Commissioner over the last 5 ½ years and with your support I look forward to having the opportunity to continue that service. As a Commissioner, I represent you on a local, state, and national level and work every day to tell Greenbrier County’s story, to promote our area, share our issues, seek assistance, and communicate how special this County truly is! The Commission currently has infrastructure projects underway including water, sewer, and broadband as well as much needed construction and renovation projects of the Courthouse and Health Department. The first section of the Meadow River Trail has been opened and construction begins soon on the remaining sections. This project is sure to be an economic driver for the Meadow River Valley as future connections into the New River Gorge National Park are planned for amazing outdoor recreational opportunities.
There is much work to be done and with my work ethic, willingness to collaborate and commitment to Greenbrier County more successes can be accomplished. I humbly ask for your vote in the Republican Primary Election to continue to move Greenbrier County forward.
Greenbrier County Assessor
Joe Darnell – D
I am Joe Darnell and I’m running for re-election for Greenbrier County Assessor. I was hired by the Assessor’s office in March 2008 and have proudly served as your Assessor since January 2017. We have tried to improve our office each year making it possible to research properties and view maps from your home. My staff treats everyone with respect and are efficient in helping the taxpayers resolve their issues. I am honored to serve the county and respectfully ask for your continued support.
Greenbrier County Sheriff
Mark Robinson – R
I’m Mark Robinson, in the race for Sheriff. My purpose in running is to tell my story. [palearrow58@gmail for the free book Collateral Children.] Several years ago my wife divorced me, falsely accusing me of abuse. She had planned it for many months, with help from friends and lawyers. I was blindsided, with no lawyer, still hoping to keep the marriage afloat. Guardian Christine Stump, Judge David Sanders and lawyer Brandon Johnson assured that I lost my wife, my seven children (poisoned against me), my jobs, my reputation, and my future. My ex-wife moved the children to Virginia. Simply for looking, I was jailed multiple times. In two states, I encounter walls of hostility from whole legal systems, creative slanders by many churches, and universal apathy.
Being stubborn, I refuse to pretend that this court has any legitimacy. As one who preached for many years, I say that God is not pleased when families are torn apart, when false accusations determine judicial outcomes, and when people watch with indifference. As Sheriff, I will allow no person to be unjustly crushed by unprincipled lawyers. I love justice, and I protect children from all abuse, including the abuse that is divorce.
Greenbrier County Sheriff
Doug Beard – R
I am Charles “Doug” Beard, republican candidate running for the office of sheriff and treasurer of Greenbrier county.
I am a graduated from the WV Corrections Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for the Bureau of Prisons, the WV State Police Academy basic class, and numerous training sessions through the WV Supreme Court of appeals and many fire schools in the region.
I bring 36 years combined experience in corrections, law enforcement and as magistrate, all of which apply directly to this office. 11 of those years were in law enforcement. 2 years as patrolman with Rainelle PD and 9 years with the sheriff’s department. At the sheriff’s department I did everything from Chief Deputy to investigations, transport prisoners and hygiene patients serving process, bailiff court and road patrol. I also bring over 2 ½ years managing a small business who’s gross income is 3.5 to 4 million annually. I also have over 37 years of public service with the Lewisburg Fire Department. During which time holding several offices and received several awards.
I would like to continue my life of public service as your next sheriff and treasurer.
