White Sulphur Springs-Edwin Ray Dixon, Sr., 90, passed away at his residence Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014.
Born Feb. 3, 1924, in White Sulphur Springs, he was a son of the late Clarence Elwood and Isamay Clara Thomas Dixon.
Mr. Dixon was retired from CSX Railroad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Randall and Elwood Dixon.
Survivors include: three daughters, Teresa Marie Walser of Texas, Lisa Darlene Lawhorn of White Sulphur Springs and Shirley Robinson Patton of Roanoke, VA; two sons, Edwin R. Dixon Jr. of White Sulphur Springs, and Larry Robinson of Peterstown; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Elwood Dixon of Joppa, MD, Jack Darrel Dixon of Dayton, OH, Garnet Wayne Dixon of Mt. Airy, NC and Kenneth Dale Dixon of White Sulphur Springs; sisters, Alice Colleen Howard of Pittsburg, NC and Patsy Jo Brown of Roanoke, VA.
There will be a private funeral service at a later date.
Mr. Dixon was cremated per his request and his cremains will be put on his farm at Big Ridge, VA.
Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
