 Lewisburg-Edward J.  “Buttons” Newsome Jr., 80, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg.

Born Oct. 30, 1937, at Frankford, he was the son of the late Edward Joseph Newsome, Sr. and Marjorie Baldwin Newsome.

He was a member of the Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Tyrone Lee and Malissa Hurt.

He leaves to mourn: his children, Victoria (Elbert) Miller of Monroe, NC, Eric Walker of Ronceverte, Tracy (Glen) Williams of Freehold, NJ, and Larry Saunders of Monroe, NC; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren,  including Khara and Shonna Saunders, Keyosha Hurt and a special friend, Debbie Jackson.

Homegoing service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 30, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, with Pastor Greg Scott and Dr. Frank Lewis officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
