Edith Butler Caldwell

Alderson-Edith Butler Caldwell, 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015.

Born Aug. 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Bessie Cody Butler.

Edith spent many years working as a maid for The Greenbrier. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, taking car rides through the countryside, and, above all, spending time with her family. Edith was of the Methodist faith.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, James E. Caldwell; children, Janice Sue Caldwell, James Melvin Caldwell and Sidney Curtis Caldwell; brother, Bill Butler; and sisters, Annie Willey and Rosa Doyle.

Edith is survived by: her children, Ronnie Caldwell of Alderson, Jerry Caldwell of Athens, TN, Charles Caldwell of Quinton, VA, Frances Parker of Columbia, SC, and Judith Hare of Russellville, AR; brother, Freddy Butler of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Angela Caldwell of Covington, VA; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 23, at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church where Pastor Linda Payton officiated. Family and friends called one hour prior to the service.
