Lewisburg small businessman to seek 10th District nomination

This week Duane Zobrist sent his pre-candidacy registration form to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office for the 10th State Senate District seeking the Republican nomination.

Duane Zobrist is a small businessman from Greenbrier County and this will be his first run for elected office. Zobrist leads a speaking, consulting, and organizational performance firm focusing on business, family and collegiate leadership.

In 1994, Duane Zobrist started American’s first school of falconry and has grown The Falconry and Raptor Education Foundation to over 6,000 students per year.

As CEO of Resort Outfitters, an outdoor adventures company, Duane Zobrist operates recreational and team-building activities at some of America’s finest resorts, including The Greenbrier.

“West Virginia needs more jobs and stronger leadership. I believe that my background uniquely positions me to be a positive reform-minded leader in the State Senate,” said Duane Zobrist. “As a conservative small businessman, I know what it takes to create jobs and what we need to do as a state to overcome some of our challenges.”

Zobrist continued, “Through my affiliation with both The Greenbrier and the Boy Scouts of America, I know how important the resort and the new Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve are to our area and our state in creating jobs and opportunities. We need to make sure we are maximizing both of these institutions to their full potential.”

Duane Zobrist has worked on many non-profit boards including, The Boy Scouts of America, Buckskin Council and Greenbrier Episcopal School. He is currently Regional Chair Elect and a Regional Education Officer in the Young President’s Organization (YPO), an international organization which focuses on CEO education.

Duane Zobrist currently resides in Lewisburg with his wife Darlene Salin Zobrist and four children, Hampton 19, Trip 16, Cameron 14 and Chase 11. Duane and Darlene will celebrate their 25th year of marriage in 2014.
