The State Board for Community Colleges established the 2016-2017 academic year in-state tuition and mandatory fees rate at $146.25 per credit hour at its regular May meeting in Richmond, VA. It was hailed as representing “…the smallest increase in more than a decade,” with students paying only an additional $3.75 per credit hour.

Increases will go into effect in the fall. In addition to tuition and the mandatory technology fee, an additional student activity fee is charged per credit hour and varies by each of the 23 community colleges in the Virginia system. DSLCC tuition and fees for fall semester will be $149.25 per credit hour for students who are eligible for in-state rates. Tuition and fees for out-of-state students will be $345.85 per credit hour.

In Virginia, community college tuition and fees are still approximately one-third of the costs oat the state’s public four-year colleges and universities. “We are pleased that the State Board kept the increase affordable,” commented DSLCC President John Rainone. “It is extremely important that access to our offerings is possible for the students who choose to begin their college and career pathway at DSLCC.”

For more information about Fall Semester registration, contact Student Services on the Clifton Forge campus at 540-863-2820 or the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista at 540-261-1211. Fall classes begin the week of Aug. 22 and prospective students may still apply for admission. Visit www.dslcc.edu.
