DSLCC student in woodman’s competition

Dabney S. Lancaster Community College forestry student Nathan Burdette of White Sulphur Springs shown competing in the men’s pole climb in the John G. Palmer Intercollegiate Woodsman’s Team Competition hosted by Haywood Community College at the Pisgah National Forest near Clyde, NC, Oct. 10. Burdette and teammate Dan Ricotta of Charlottesville, who won the event with a time of 7.31 seconds, helped DSLCC bring home the winning team trophy and a new Stihl chain saw. Competitors in this speed event are asked to climb a 32-foot pole and ring a bell at the top.
